Trying to find a summer wedding outfit need not be a stressful task. I personally love weddings in summer; the sun stays up for a lot longer, it’s generally warm and there’s always a fun buzz in the air.
In this post I’ve shared my favourite tips and a few outfit options for summer wedding style.
Why are summer wedding outfits different?
I feel there’s a lot less to worry about: you don’t have to think about finding a shawl or a jacket to stay warm, or deliberate whether your outfit choice goes with stockings. Ultimately, there are a lot less pieces in your outfit puzzle, and a lot less to carry around.
Summer wedding colours
Another thing I love about summer weddings is that you can get away with wearing bright colours. Think hot pinks and lovely pastels, or bright floral prints that sometimes look out of place on a cold and cloudy winter day.

This look is all about combining a few neutral colours and shades to create a simple but luxurious statement.
If you’re ever stuck on what to wear to a beach wedding, I highly recommend a playsuit. There’s always a strong chance that it’ll be a little windy by the beach and by wearing a playsuit, you don’t have to worry about accidentally revealing your underwear!
Generally speaking, beach weddings are a little more casual than black tie weddings. The playsuit I’ve chosen is a statement piece, so I’ve kept the accessories simple to prevent the look from being too overdone.
Pink and Purple
Slip dresses have been in for what feels like the third year in a row! I’m not complaining – they’re that item of clothing that surprisingly suits a lot of body types! It’s also a lot better for the environment if trends don’t change too fast.
Slip dresses are perfect for summer weddings because they are thin and easy to dance in. The look below pays homage to the nineties but has a modern twist.
You can’t go wrong with a girly floral dress. This dress is timeless and the gold accessories light it up a little.
This is the perfect outfit for those who don’t like to show a lot of skin. White shoes are all the rage at the moment so I decided to do something different and include theme here!
If you’re a little worried it’ll be a bit chilly at the reception, especially if you’re by the water, here are some two options for a light layer. I’ve chosen white but you can always choose other colours that compliment your outfit!
Lurex Band Wrap $39.95
TUSSAH Zanthe Blazer $139.95
